Julianne Moore is one of the most prolific actors of our time. I’m sure you remember her from her iconic roles in The Hunger GamesThe Big Lebowski, or from her Academy Award-winning role in Still Alice. A lot of people have recently become re-obsessed with her while watching Netflix’s latest smash hit, Sirens.

And before we get to the food, a fun fact that I love: Julianne Moore is one of only 12 actors who have been nominated for multiple acting Oscars in the same year. In 2002, she received a Best Actress nomination for Far from Heaven and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for The Hours.

With all these hours spent on set (sorry, couldn’t help myself!), I’m sure she works up quite an appetite. Naturally, I wondered what foods she reaches for when she wants to unwind. And I wasn’t disappointed by her classic choice!

What is Julianne Moore’s favorite comfort food?

She loves vegetable lasagna! The iconic one-pan meal is such a staple in her life because she can make it with her kids. “When I’m not on a film set, my life is really about my family,” she told Gourmet Live back in 2010. “And any dish that’s all in one pan is really my favorite thing to do because I have real difficulty with timing.”

Julianne Moore has mastered her own vegetable lasagna recipe over the years. It was actually included in Barilla’s Celebrity Pasta Lovers’ Cookbook in 2010. The proceeds from the cookbook went to charity. While I wasn’t able to source that cookbook, I did find a blog post that included the recipe. It looks like her version includes asparagus and zucchini, which sounds delicious.

Apparently, her love of cooking began as a way to enjoy sweet treats. “My mother didn’t buy a lot of cookies,” Julianne said. “She told us that if we made something, then we could eat it, so my sister and I baked really early on.” This is apparently a quality she has passed on to her daughter, who loves baking coconut cookies. Basically, it sounds like it’s always a delicious time in the Moore household!
